Advanced Placement (AP) courses are taught at your high school by high school teachers who use curriculum approved by College Board.

Speak with your high school guidance counselor to see if you qualify to take AP courses and what fees apply.

Many, but not all colleges and universities award college credit to students who earn 3, 4, or 5 on AP exams. Some colleges may award credit but not reduce the amount of credits required for college graduation. The impact on high school GPA is based on a 5.0 scale.

Concurrent classes are college level classes taught at Yavapai College or online by YC faculty. Please speak with your high school counselor to see if you will be granted high school credit for concurrent coursework. Students who earn a C or higher in their concurrent courses are awarded college credit at Yavapai College.

Many courses will transfer to AZ universities. However, it is important to meet with your college advisor to discuss how your credits might transfer. You will need the appropriate placement test scores before you can register for courses requirement prerequisites.

CTED offers college-level coursework in career-technical fields including: allied health, business, pre-engineering, auto, welding and much more, all while fulfilling high school graduation requirements. Students who receive a C or higher at the end of the course are awarded college credit at Yavapai College, which may transfer to an AZ university depending on the student’s major.

CTED courses are taught at Yavapai College campuses by YC faculty or are taught at some high school campuses by high school teachers. These teachers meet college accreditation requirements and use curriculum approved by Yavapai College. You need to be in 10th, 11th, or 12th grade with an appropriate placement test score at YC.

Tuition is free! Textbooks may be provided by your high school. The impact on high school GPA is based on 4.0 scale.

The Early College Academy is a unique cohort of students selected by Prescott High School, Bradshaw Mountain, and Mingus Union High School partnering with Yavapai College.

Students start on the Yavapai College campuses as juniors and/or seniors while earning college credit and meeting graduation requirements for high school. This opportunity allows students to jumpstart their careers while building strong foundations for future semesters.

Each cohort has access to all Yavapai resources, direct contact with their academic advisor, and a point person from the high school to help navigate life on a college campus.

College-Level Entrance Progam (CLEP) Testing location: Prescott

More than 2,900 colleges and universities in the United States will recognize this demonstration of your knowledge. Each college or university sets its own CLEP policy regarding how much credit will be granted and for which courses. You can receive college credit for what you already know by earning qualifying scores on any one or more of the 33 CLEP examinations.

1. High school students, please ask your college advisor how you can earn a voucher to cover the cost of the CLEP exam fee.
2. Register and pay the appropriate CLEP exam fee through the CLEP My Account portal
3. After you have been issued your Registration Ticket, you can schedule your CLEP assessment here. There is a $25 proctor fee to take the CLEP exam at Yavapai College.

Dual enrollment courses are taught at your high school campus (by college certified instructors) and fulfill both high school and college requirements. Students who earn C ’s or higher, are awarded college credit at Yavapai College. The impact on high school GPA depends on the scale used by your high school.
