Yavapai College owns and manages a limited amount of workforce housing to help eligible employees access attainable housing close to work.

Accommodations vary by location and may include houses, tiny homes, RV pads, and a limited number of travel trailers. Availability is limited, and housing is not guaranteed.

Unless otherwise noted, rates shown are monthly and may be subject to change. Building 34 is a temporary housing option with a maximum stay of three months.

Temporary Employee Housing

Prescott Campus Building 34

This furnished apartment provides a practical and comfortable place for new YC employees during their first months in the area.

Short-term stays only: Building 34 is available for temporary stays of up to three months. It is not a long-term workforce housing option.

Prescott Pines

Yavapai College owns and manages a limited amount of workforce housing in Yavapai County to provide convenient, safe, and attainable housing to Yavapai College employees.

At YC, attainable housing is priced to be affordable to eligible employee households. The College strives to ensure housing costs, including rent and basic utilities, consume 30% or less of gross income for eligible moderate-income households.

Available housing is generally offered on a first-come, first-served basis, with program priorities and eligibility requirements applied.

To live in YC Workforce Housing, potential residents may not own property in Yavapai County. Because availability is limited, employees are not guaranteed housing.

Program priority is generally as follows:

  1. College employees who do not own property within Yavapai County
  2. Full-time college employees whose household income is 80% to 140% of HUD’s two-person Area Median Income for Yavapai County
  3. Part-time college employees whose household income is 80% to 140% of HUD’s two-person Area Median Income for Yavapai County
  4. Public servants, including K–12 teachers, police, fire, and nurses, who may be offered up to a one-year license agreement
  5. YC retirees with 15 or more years of service, who may be offered a month-to-month license agreement
  6. General public applicants, who may be offered a month-to-month license agreement

Program notice: YC reserves the right to change the workforce housing program, including eligibility requirements, using its sole discretion as to what is in the best interests of the College.

  1. Apply

    Employees interested in workforce housing complete the housing application. If eligibility criteria are met, the employee is placed on the waiting list.

  2. Wait to Be Matched

    As units become available, Property Management contacts eligible employees according to the waiting list and stated housing preferences.

  3. Sign the Agreement

    The Property Management Office confirms the selection and move-in date and provides the Housing License Agreement for review and signature.

  4. Complete Payments and Deposits

    Monthly housing payments are generally paid by payroll deduction. Security deposits and prorated first-month payments are paid through a secure online portal before move-in.

  5. Move In

    Keys are provided, and the resident conducts a move-in inspection to confirm that the unit is in good working order.

  6. Move Out

    Residents may cancel the Housing License Agreement with as little as 60 days’ notice. Property Management coordinates move-out paperwork and a final inspection.

Pets

Pets are permitted at single-family homes and personal RVs with advance written permission from the College. Pet fees and deposits are required. Chickens and other animals typically associated with agricultural use are not allowed on the premises.

Building 34 exception: Animals are not permitted in the Building 34 temporary employee apartment.

Smoking

Smoking is prohibited inside and within 25 feet of college buildings. At Prescott Pines, open flames are prohibited except in designated smoking areas.

Subleasing

Employees may seek to sublet during an approved leave or over the summer. The sublet must be for at least 30 days, and the employee remains responsible for damages beyond normal wear and tear.

Repairs and Maintenance

How to request help with a unit.

College-owned units are maintained and repaired by the Facilities Department, either directly by college personnel or through a third-party service provider.

Residents should identify anyone arriving to perform work and report unauthorized individuals to Property Management staff.

Emergency or Non-Discretionary Repairs

Examples include life-safety concerns, plumbing emergencies, heating issues, appliance issues requiring immediate attention, and significant pest infestations.

Call or email and include specific details about the problem so the correct repair response can be scheduled.

Routine or Minor Repairs

Examples include annual furnace and chimney checks, routine pest control, life-safety inspections, gutter cleaning, and minor repairs such as a leaky faucet.
