Description: Focuses on transforming a business vision into a simple, actionable business plan for a new venture. Guides students through creating a complete business plan, including the business description, target market analysis, and basic financial projections. Emphasizes practical application and development of a cohesive and professional document.

Course Content:

  • Business description
  • Foundational market research, including target market identification
  • Marketing strategies to address the target market
  • Basic financial projections (e.g., revenue, costs, funding needs)
  • Business plan

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Develop a concise business description, including the business's purpose and structure.
  2. Analyze a target market using basic research techniques.
  3. Develop marketing strategies appropriate for the identified target market.
  4. Create basic financial projections to support the business concept.
  5. Prepare a simple business plan incorporating all required sections.

Required Assessment:

  1. Prepare a complete business plan: Students create a simple business plan incorporating all required elements, analyses, and sections.
  2. Capstone - SBDC consultation meeting: Students present their business plan draft to a Small Business Development Center (SBDC) representative and incorporate feedback into their plan.
