Student CARES / CRRSAA Grant Money

$500 Emergency Grant Fund

In addition, Yavapai College has announced that it will be disbursing over $2.3 million in federal stimulus money from the CARES Act and the CRRSAA to students who have incurred expenses caused by the Covid-19 Pandemic. Students can apply for a portion of these grant funds if enrolled, or registered. Daca and International students now qualify!

If you have exceptional need, still have outstanding tuition costs you may have incurred after March 13,2020, or experience an emergency life situation while attending class at Yavapai College, you can receive a $500 grant or more through CARES. This can help with loss of employment, need for food, housing, child care, health care, technology or you may use the money to pay for Cost of Attendance Items such as Tuition, Room and Board or Books and supplies.

Students can apply for a portion of the grants after they register for the fall semester and read the following information:

Guidelines for YC student grant CARES funds

  • Student can complete a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).
  • Need help applying for FAFSA? Set up a virtual appointment
  • Students need to complete the IYCARES2 application.
  • Students must have been or are currently enrolled in Spring 2021, Summer 2021 or Fall 2021 semesters.
  • Student must have expenses or loss of income related to the coronavirus or have costs associated with the Cost of Attendance.
  • Full-time YC employees are not eligible

How do students apply and what do they receive?

  • Students will have a short application in their YC student portal, or they can apply on line by clicking the link above.
  • Students who are eligible to receive Pell as determined by 2021-22 FAFSA completion will automatically be eligible.
  • Students may also be eligible for additional Emergency IYCAR2 Grants by completing the application on the portal.

How do students receive the funds?

  • Funds will be disbursed directly to the student or to their student account. If they have a balance owing on their account the grant money may be credited to their account, pay off any balance owing. Any remaining Credit balance on the account will then be issued to the student.
  • If they have signed up for ACH in the Payment Center through their YC portal, funds will be sent to the student’s bank account
  • If they have not signed up for ACH a check will be sent to the address the student has on file


  • Student can complete a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).
