Solo exhibit at YC Verde’s Patty McMullen Mikles Gallery Aug 21 to Sept 18
Clarkdale, Arizona (August 5, 2025) – Yavapai College Visual Arts, in collaboration with the Prescott Plein Air Festival, is proud to present a solo exhibition by a visual poet of the American Southwest. Outside In, a celebration of the works of Cindy Carrillo, will be on display at YC’s Patty McMullen-Mikles Art Gallery on the Verde Valley Campus from Thursday, August 21, through Thursday, September 18.
An accomplished and award-winning artist, Cindy Carrillo’s oil paintings, watercolors and mixed media works have been showcased in galleries around the country. Last year, she gained local attention by earning the 2024 Best in Show award at Art in the Pines, the Prescott Plein Air Festival. Her work has been found at Sedona’s Carré d’artistes Gallery, featured in Southwest Art Magazine and honored at juried exhibitions across the Southwest.
The McMullen-Mikles Gallery will host an Opening Reception for Outside In Thursday, August 21, from 5 to 7 p.m. The Gallery is on YC’s Verde Valley Campus, 601 Black Hills Drive, Bldg. F, in Clarkdale. The reception is free and open to the public, with complimentary small bites, and wine available for purchase from the award-winning Southwest Wine Center.
With over 25 years of artistic practice and exploration, Cindy’s creative journey has been deeply influenced by mentors and artists like Sheila Hicks, Louise Nevelson, Paul Cézanne, and Richard Diebenkorn. She would like her own work to pay that forward: “I hope I can inspire others to not wait until later but start now, even on a small scale.” She said. “Make a mess and make no apologies just enjoy and pass that on. People need that.”
